INCAT CROWTHER DESIGN FERRIES FOR CHINESE OPERATION

Tuesday, February 9, 2021

Incat Crowther has announced the launch of two Incat Crowther 40s for Zhuhai Fast Ferry Company, built by AFAI Southern Shipyard for operation in the Pearl River Delta region.

AFAI Southern Shipyard’s winning bid for the project was underpinned by the partnership’s ability to deliver a high speed, low fuel consumption vessel which offers high-level passenger experience.

The 42.8m vessels, named Xin Hai Yun and Xin Hai Jun, each accommodate 199 passengers. They are powered by twin MTU 12V2000 M72 main engines, developing 1440kW each, driving Rolls Royce Kamewa S71-4 waterjets.

The vessel utilise Incat Crowther’s latest catamaran hull form, constructed in marine grade aluminium, and featuring a reverse bow design which optimises hull efficiency and seakeeping characteristics, delivering reduced operating costs and high passenger comfort. This hull form has been rigorously tested in service.

Incat Crowther has delivered over 50 ferries currently in operation in People’s Republic of China.
