Marine insurance services provider Thomas Miller, which manages the UK P&I Club, is establishing a new company, TMKK, in Japan to provide support services to the UK P&I Club’s Japanese branch.

The new company will operate out of Tokyo and Imabari and has been set up to work alongside and provide valuable support to the UK Club’s Japan branch. TMKK will enhance local resources and aims to streamline the delivery of bespoke claims and advisory services direct to UK Club Members in Japan.

Paul Sessions, the UK Club’s Regional Director for Japan, will have overall responsibility for leading TMKK. The new team will comprise three claims executives and the recently appointed Senior Loss Prevention Executive, Capt Hiroshi Sekine. As a result of setting up the new company, correspondent services in Japan will be bought in-house, bringing to an end its arranement with correspondent ISS P&I Japan

Sessions said: “The opening of TMKK is an exciting development for Thomas Miller and will provide the benefits of a regional office in Japan, integrated and co-ordinated with the rest of Thomas Miller network of offices elsewhere in Asia Pacific, Europe and the Americas. We are extremely grateful for the exceptional support ISS have provided over many years and the seamless nature in which they have worked with us in terms of staffing and transferring files to the new company.”
