The UK P&I Club has appointed Thomas Rittweger as a senior claims director in its New Jersey office to focus on focus on the management of large claims in North and South America as well providing advice and assisting claims handlers based on his specialist knowledge.

Rittweger joins the UK Club from Hill Betts and Nash LLP where he was a partner. He brings a considerable amount of trial experience successfully defending organisations including shipowners, marinas and other companies against a range of claims. These include maritime casualty, salvage, and insurance coverage disputes.

Originally a member of the United States Merchant Marine Academy, Rittweger has an extensive history in the marine sector. As a marine and nuclear engineer, he has built, tested and sailed on board U.S. Navy submarines.

I am confident my experience and knowledge of the marine industry will be of lasting benefit to the Club in the Americas.”
