Japan Engine Corporation (J-ENG) has received orders for UE Engines, type 6UEC35LSE-Eco-B2-SCR, for two next-generation energy-saving heavy-lift vessels, contracted by NYK Bulk & Projects Carriers (NBP), to be built at Nanjing Jinling Shipyard in China.

The orders for this engine resulted from the customer's evaluation for low fuel consumption, environmental performance, reliability, and J-ENG’s integrated structure covering development, design, manufacturing, sales and after-sales service. In particular, the fuel efficiency performance contributes significantly to anticipating the EEDI (Energy Efficiency Design Index) Phase 3 level of NBP's new vessels, and is part of NYK's shift towards next-generation energy-saving vessels.

As part of its global sale promotion of UE engines, J-ENG has given licenses to build UE Engines to two Chinese low-speed diesel engine manufacturers, China Shipbuilding Industry Corporation Diesel Engine Co (CSE) and Zhejiang Yungpu Heavy Machinery Co (YHM). These companies are said to have shifted to continuous engine production, mainly of smaller UE Engines, and the market share of UE Engine in China is steadily expanding.  J-ENG will ensure high-quality UE Engines for its customes by transferring technology and manufacturing know-how to these licensees.
