Offshore energy support vessel (OESV) operator, Seacat Services, has ordered two multi-hull crew transfer vessels (CTVs) to a design by naval architect BAR Technologies, working in partnership with vessel designer Chartwell Marine.

The new BARTech 30 is claimed to be a game changer in green vessel design and will work in tandem with Seacat’s existing OESVs. The new vessels – Seacat Columbia and Seacat Cambria - will reinforce Seacat’s commitment to decarbonisation of the workboat sector. This is said to be achieved through innovative hull design, rather than a reliance on hybrid technology.

To be built in UK yards, the first vessel is expected to be completed by Q1 2022.
