French shipping group CMA CGM says that the second in its series of nine LNG-fuelled 23,000 TEU container ship newbuilds, the ‘CMA CGM Champs Elysées’ has now joined the company's fleet and will operate between Asia and Northern Europe.

A sister to the recently-delivered CMA CGM Jacques Saade, the CMA CGM Champs Elysées features, in addition to LNG engines, digital onboard technology to assist the captain and crew, especially during port manoeuvres, a straight bow with integrated bulb, and a hydrodynamically-optimised rudder and propeller to reduce energy consumption. The CMA CGM Champs Elysées, along with the seven remaining vessels in the class, will be registered at the French International Register (FIR) and will be named after Parisian landmarks.
