Safe Bulkers has entered into a service agreement with Alfa Laval to minimise down time, enhance regulatory compliance and safeguard the performance of the PureSox scrubbers aboard it ships.

The agreement includes remote monitoring of scrubber performance through connectivity module, service kits, minimum inventory of genuine Alfa Laval spares parts onboard and ashore for remote trouble-shooting and sensor calibration by exchange.

Alfa Laval will also train Safe Bulkers’ crews and superintendents at the company’s PureSox training school in Shaghai, China.

Safe Bulkers currently operates 15 Alfa Laval PureSOx scrubbers, although five more are scheduled to be installed within the first quarter of 2020. The remaining 21 vessels in the Safe Bulkers fleet operate using compliant fuels.
