The UK P&I Club, a provider of P&I insurance and other services to the international shipping community, has appointed Hiroshi Sekine as Loss Prevention Executive in its Tokyo office.

The UK Club has created a new Loss Prevention position, its first in Japan, strengthening its presence across the region. This role will focus on assessing ship conditions, investigating claims and providing advice on a variety of technical topics.

Capt Sekine has a vast amount of experience, holding various senior roles across his 43 years within the maritime industry, including Captain and Managing Corporate Officer in a leading international shipping line and more recently, MD and President at marine consultancy firm, Japan Marine Science.

He is also a Lecturer at Tokyo University of Marine Science and Technology and the Japan Coast Guard Academy, as well a Visiting Professor at Kobe University, Japan.
