Norsepower reports that the Solar Impulse Foundation has selected 1,000 solutions that protect the environment in a profitable way, including the Norsepower Rotor Sail, and has awarded them the Solar Impulse Efficient Solutions Label.

This label serves as a credible symbol that can be applied to products, processes and services and serves as a guarantee of quality to those looking to implement clean solutions and affords a competitive edge to the innovators behind them.

Assessed by independent experts for their technological feasibility, environmental and social-economic benefits, and economic profitability, a portfolio of these solutions will be brought to decision-makers to encourage them to adopt much more ambitious environmental targets and energy policies.

“We’re delighted that our Rotor Sail Solution has been recognised as one of the top 1000 solutions for protecting the environment. The Efficient Solutions Label demonstrates the economic opportunities that innovative clean technologies bring. As pioneers of modern auxiliary wind propulsion technology for the global maritime industry, we believe that the ability to harness wind as an additional propulsion source to enable a reduction in fuel consumption and related emissions is a natural next step for the maritime industry as it seeks to remain cost-efficient and meet existing and forthcoming environmental regulations” said Tuomas Riski, CEO Norsepower.

Norsepower’s Rotor Solution has been installed onboard three vessels and has achieved over 35,000 hours in operation, saving more than 4,500 tonnes of CO2 in the process. The solution has delivered independently verified fuel saving potential of up to 20%.
