Hyundai Heavy Industries has completed type approval testing of its new HiMSEN engine, the eco-friendly H54DF.

With a maximum output of 36,000hp, three times higher than that of its existing dual fuel engine, and 18% higher than that of its diesel variant, HHI claims the new model is the world's most powerful medium-sized engine.

The dual-fuel engine has an output range from 1,400hp to 36,000hp, “allowing it to respond more flexibly to the diverse demands of the market”, the company said in a statement online.

Lee Ki-dong, CEO of HHI’s Engine Machinery Business, said: “We plan to increase sales worth KRW 260 billion last year to KRW 1 trillion by 2025 by reinforcing technology development and sales, especially for eco-friendly engines.”
