Mitsui E&S Shipbuilding (MES-S) has delivered an 87,000 dwt bulk carrier, 'Ocean Jade' (Hull No.1989) from its Chiba Shipyard to Ocean Jade of Singapore.

The 228.99m long, 87,670 dwt ship is the second of the 'neo87BC' type, and the seventh in the 'neo series' line up.

It has a Mitsui-MAN B&W 6S60ME-C10.5-HPSCR electronically controlled main engine, complying with IMO Tier III, giving a service speed of 14.5 knots. The vessel is classed by ClassNK, and will sail under the Singapore flag.

While focusing on the grain trade, especially in shallow-water ports in the North and South American continental rivers, the vessel is capable of handling the trade of coal, iron ore, and bauxite. It has multiple fuel oil tanks for switching of fuel oil in compliance with SOx requirements. The hull form and energy-saving device are designed for high efficiency. It is the first neo series to apply the Harmonised Common Structural Rules (H-CSR). Compliance with the SOLAS Noise Code contributes to improved crew working and living environment for the onboard complement of 25.
