
MAERSK CONTAINERSHIP SUFFERS ENGINE ROOM EXPLOSION

The 4045 TEU 2001-built container ship 'Laura Maersk' is reported to have suffered an explosion in the engine room off the US coast, while en route from Algeciras to Newark.
One crew member was injured, and was transferred by helicopter to hospital in Norfolk, VA. At the time of writing, the ship is under tow to the destination port, by the tug Atlantic Enterprise.
