Lloydís Register has signed the United Nations Global Compact, Sustainable Ocean Principles, which calls on companies around the world to commit to securing a healthy and productive ocean.

By signing up to the principles, LR commits to taking action to prevent pollution, manage use of marine resources to ensure long-term sustainability and be transparent about ocean-related activities and impacts

LR was a contributor to the development of the Sustainable Ocean Principles along with stakeholders from the private sector, NGOs, academic institutions and UN agencies.

Alastair Marsh, CEO, LR, said: “I am proud that Lloyd’s Register is an early signatory of the principles, and a founding member of the United Nations Global Compact Sustainable Ocean Business Action Platform.  We anticipate supporting our clients and partners in their future adoption”.

In addition, LR is a signatory to the Getting to Zero Coalition, a powerful alliance representing senior leaders within the maritime, energy, infrastructure and finance sectors, supported by decision-makers from government and International Government Organisations aiming for shipping’s decarbonisation with the mutual goal of having commercially viable zero emission vessels operating along deep sea trade routes by 2030.
