J-ENG COMPLETES SHOP TEST FOR LP-EGR ENGINE
Wednesday, November 18, 2020
The MHI-Kobe Diesel joint venture company Japan Engine Corporation (J-Eng) has completed its first 60cm bore low pressure EGR-equipped engine, a 7UEC60LSE-Eco-A2-EGR, having passed the shop test and overhaul inspection.
The engine will be installed on a bulk carrier built by Oshima Shipbuilding and owned by Nippon Yusen Kabushiki Kaisha (NYK). The low pressure EGR system has now been successfully applied to both the UEC50LSH and UEC60LSE types. A similar system for the UEC42LSH type engine is under development, scheduled to be completed in 2021.
J-Eng says it will contribute to a sustainable society through extending series engine production of environmentally-friendly engines which meet NOx Tier III regulations.
