ICE TANKER DESIGN RECOGNISED AS 'SIGNIFICANT SHIP'

Tuesday, May 5, 2020

Ship designer International Contract Engineering (ICE) Group has announced that one of its vessel designs, the 'Histria Atlas, built by Santierul Naval Constanta (SNC) in Romania, has been nominated as a 'Significant Ship for 2019' by the Royal Institution of Naval Architects.

The vessel is the first in a new series of EcoMax-class MR1 product tankers. The ship was designed for a maximum cargo intake while still being able to operate in ports with shallow draught limitations. She is RINA classed and has an overall length of 180m, a beam of 32.26m and a scantling draught of 11.20m, with 10 epoxy coated cargo tanks.

SNC is one of ICE’s long-standing shipyard customers. ICE’s scope of work on the Histria Atlas included the development of an Aveva Marine 3-D model for the engine room, detail design drawings and development of production information.
