Havyard Ship Technology of Norway has announced a halt in activities at the yard as a result of confirmed cases of Covid-19 infection.

Following a temporary closure following the discovery of four positive cases at the end of September, the yard has worked closely with local health authorities to clarify the extent of the spread of the virus, with about 200 people tested so far. Initial reports suggest that 17 people associated with the yard have been diagnosed with the infection.

In order to prevent further spread of the virus and to gain control of the situation, Hyllestad municipality has today, pursuant to the Infection Control Act, decided to keep the yard business closed until 10 October 2020, a closure which may be extended.

The yard said that vessels being outfitted at the yard are likely to have deliveries delayed due to the closure. The extent of delays will depend on the length of the shutdown and what measures can be implemented to make up for lost production time.
