GONDAN LAUNCHES NEW STERN TRAWLER

The Astilleros Gondan Shipyard in Figueras, Spain, has launched a new Fishing Stern Trawler Vessel built for the Norwegian shipowner Engenes Fiskeriselskap.

This new vessel, designed by Kongsberg Maritime, which has also supplying the main equipment, will have a length of 69.9m and a beam of 16m. Built in steel with aluminium superstructure, the stern trawler will operate mainly in Northern Atlantic, Barents Sea and Svalbard waters. With accommodation for 29 people, the freezer trawler will be operated for heading, gutting and freezing of whole white fish, so has comprehensive automated fish processing equipment, and a freezer hold capacity of 1400m3. The vessel will be classified by DNV GL and will be Ice class certified.

The yard says that the Covid-19 pandemic presented a challenge for the company, which thanks to careful coordination and implementation of all necessary measures, in accordance with current Government regulations, is successfully achieving the fulfilment of its commitments, and moving forward despite the difficulties.
