Astilleros Gondan of Spain says it has delivered 'Rio Ésera', the second of three patrol boats for the Spanish Civil Guard.

The latest boat will be based at Gijon. The design is based on those built for the Civil Guard in 2015, with a length of about 20m and beam of 5m, but with the latest MAN V12 engines, rated 1200 bhp at 2100 rpm, and Kamewa S40-3 waterjets, allowing a speed in excess of 36 knots.

The vessels, intended for sustained navigation, have been designed and equipped for missions to monitor maritime fishing, fight drug trafficking and perform rescue at sea, in addition to protecting the marine environment.

Gondan's GRP Division will have delivered five vessels to the Spanish Civil Guard, as well as passenger catamarans for Baleària, the Croatian Krilo HR and Lineas Romero.
