Maritime Navigation, Communication and Acoustic systems manufacturer Furuno has acquired Danish company Emri, which specialises in autopilots, steering control, joystick dynamic positioning and manoeuvring systems, .

Based in Herlev, a suburb of Copenhagen, and founded in 1972, Emri's autopilots are in operation onboard 1000plus vessels. Steering control systems have been a key focus of EMRI for many years. Steering gear remote control systems are designed to fit owners’ requirements of safety and ease of operation. The customer reference list includes well-known shipping companies and cruise line owners. Emri also designs and manufactures Joystick Dynamic Positioning (DP) systems with  fuel saving algorithms. Emri is an OEM supplier to several major industrial players with a large installed base.
