FRENCH YARD ORDERS BRUNVOLL HYBRID SYSTEMS FOR CTV PROPULSION

Friday, June 4, 2021

Brunvoll has signed a contract with French shipyard OCEA, for delivery of hybrid propulsion systems for two crew transfer vessels (CTV) ordered by Louis Dreyfus Armateurs in partnership with Tidal Transit.

The CTVs are being built to a design by naval architect MAURIC, and will be operated on the Saint-Nazaire offshore wind farm, the first in France. First delivery from Brunvoll will take place during 2021.

Brunvoll's hybrid system comprises a compact battery package and electric motors, powering both propulsion and hotel load, focusing on control philosophy and energy savings. Brunvoll’s scope of delivery includes control systems, EMS, DC Switchboards, VFD’s, El-motors and batteries. Included in the contract is delivery of a Triton CPP propulsion control system for a third vessel, a hybrid-ready diesel-mechanical CTV.

The company says that compactness and light weight are core elements in its electric and hybrid system supplies.

”Brunvoll is proud to win this contract of hybrid propulsion system and system integration for the first crew transfer vessels for the French marine renewable energy industry”, said Bjørn Svendsen, VP Sales & Marketing.
