Swedish ship designer FKAB reports that vessel number four, SYDSTRAUM, in a series of product tankers has been delivered to owner Utkilen, completing this series of four chemical tankers with duplex stainless steel cargo tanks.

The project was the result of cooperation between FKAB Marine Design, Utkilen and the China Merchants Jinling Shipyard (Yangzhou) Dingheng.

The Utkilen T32 design ice-class vessels are of 10 500dwt, built to an environmentally friendly design with focus on low fuel consumption, reduced NOx emissions and preparation for possible future alternatives fuel with LNG-ready engines. Shore power is installed with sufficient capacity to handle loading and unloading.

High capacity loading and unloading pumps in combination with high-efficiency tank cleaning systems will reduce time in ports. Additionally, this vessel is prepared for a battery pack installation to be used either as UPS or for peak shaving.
