EDDA WIND CSOV SHIP LAUNCHED IN SPAIN

Monday, May 31, 2021

The Gondan Shipyard in Figueras, Spain, has launched a new Commissioning Service Operation Vessel (CSOV) built for the Norwegian shipowner Edda Wind.

The vessel has a length of 88.3m and a beam of 19.7m, it was designed by Salt Ship Design, and it is prepared for the installation of zero emission hydrogen propulsion systems, made possible by Enova SF funding, a Norwegian government enterprise responsible for promotion of environmentally friendly production and consumption of energy.

The CSOV will be the 14th vessel constructed for a company with relations to the Østensjø Group. With accommodation for 120 people, 93 technicians and 27 crew members, the vessel will support the charterer Ocean Breeze during operations at the Bard Offshore 1 wind farm in Germany. It will have modern automated equipment including a 3D Motion Compensated Crane and a motion compensated gangway with a maximum range of 28m for personnel transfer and an integrated Elevator with capacity up to 26 persons.

The Covid-19 pandemic represented a challenge for the shipbuilder, which, thanks to careful coordination and implementation of all necessary measures, in accordance with current Government regulations, successfully fulfilled its commitments, and delivered the vessel as per original plan despite the challenges.
