Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering has completed the development of an eco-friendly shaft motor generator system and signed a memorandum of understanding on commercialisation with co-development partners CNEI Electric and Hyosung Heavy Industries.

In order to help ship operators meet upcoming emissions reducing regulations, demand for application of shaft generator motor systems is increasing to improve fuel efficiency and reducie dependence on auxiliary generators

Kwon Oh-ik, managing director of Daewoo Shipbuilding & Marine Engineering, said: “We are pleased to be able to provide shipowners with eco-friendly solutions that raise safety and reliability to the next level with domestic equipment manufacturers. It is more meaningful because it was achieved with domestic equipment manufacturers.” said.
