The Meyer Turku shipyard has reported that delivery of 'Costa Smeralda' has been put back from mid-October to mid-November.

The company says that at 180,000gt this is much larger than other ships built by the yard in recent years. Additionally, the novel LNG propulsion system and many sophisticated rooms with stage and audio/video equipment, make this a very complex and sophisticated piece of engineering. In order to maintain quality, progress has been slower than anticipated, despite counter-actions undertaken by the yard.

A company statement says: "Meyer Turku apologises to all that are affected by this change. With the new time frame, Meyer Turku is going to deliver a highly sophisticated cruise ship in the usual high Meyer Turku quality."
