CAVOTEC WINS FAR EASTERN VACUUM MOORING ORDER

CAVOTEC WINS FAR EASTERN VACUUM MOORING ORDER

Friday, May 21, 2021

Cleantech company Cavotec's MoorMaster automated mooring technology has been selected for installation at a ro-ro berth at a presently unspecified Far East port, representing the first installation of the system in Asia.

The MoorMaster system will moor a 180m ro-ro vessel, and will create a safer and less stressful onboard and shore-side work environment, while contributing to greater berth availability due to reduced vessel motion. The system will be installed in 2022. MoorMaster eliminates the need for conventional mooring lines by replacing them with automated vacuum pads that moor and release vessels in seconds. Its patent-protected Active Control technology minimises vessel motion, thereby improving port productivity.

“This order demonstrates the high quality of our MoorMaster system and is a clear indication of how vacuum mooring is becoming the new standard for mooring worldwide,” said Patrick Mares, President, Cavotec Ports & Maritime.

First introduced 20 years ago, MoorMaster is claimed to be the only proven and widely used vacuum mooring technology. It is used at bulk, container handling, lock, ro-ro, and ship-to-ship applications.
