KVH Industries says it has shipped its 10,000th VSAT satellite communications system, the latest milestone for the company that introduced its first maritime 60cm VSAT terminal, the TracPhone V7, and the mini-VSAT Broadband service, in 2007.

Since that time, KVH claims to have gained a market leading position in maritime VSAT terminals, providing high-speed connectivity, voice service, IoT capabilities, and content to vessels worldwide.

“We set out to make satellite communications reliable, cost effective, and more accessible to seafarers through innovations in technology, satellite services, and business models,” said Martin Kits van Heyningen, KVH CEO. “The accelerating adoption of our TracPhone VSAT systems and connectivity delivered by our high-throughput satellite network reflects the demand for the affordable airtime, fast data speeds, network security, IoT proactive monitoring, and value-added services that we deliver.”

KVH’s innovations in maritime connectivity include the AgilePlans subscription-based model for the commercial maritime sector, which offers global connectivity, VSAT hardware, news, entertainment, and training content, plus free installation in ports and locations worldwide. This, the company says, has proved extremely attractive to global fleets and has been the driving force behind the company’s growth in this marketplace.
