GTT BAGS CONTRACT FOR NEW NO96 GW TANKS

Wednesday, May 16, 2018

French containment and cryogenic membrane pioneer GTT (Gaztransport & Technigaz) has received an order from an undisclosed shipbuilder in Asia for the design and supply of LNG tanks for installation to two new LNG carriers.

The vessels will be built on behalf of a European shipowner. GTT will design the LNG tanks for both vessels, each of which will be equipped with the NO96 GW containment system developed by GTT. Delivery is scheduled for 2020.

The main difference between the original NO96 systems and the NO96 GW is that the perlite in the original system has been replaced by glass-wool. GTT says the change is not a structural change as the plywood structure is identical to the NO96 system.

The guaranteed boil-off rate with NO96 GW system is between 0.125% and 0.13% V/day.
